Eric Miller is a composer, performer, and multi-sensory installation artist with a primary focus on the induction of non-ordinary states of consciousness through blended stimulation techniques. Methods employed for achieving such states include immersion, sensory isolation, biofeedback, improvisation, and cross-modal binding between the visual, auditory, and tactile. His works are designed with the intention of inviting the observer into a non-discursive aesthetic experience, where emphasis is placed on perceptual immediacy. He recently completed a PhD in Electronic Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute exploring the effects of multimodal stimulation on various dimensions of consciousness, including the sense of self, presence, time, and embodiment.
